GRANT—JONES

Charles Edward GRANT

b. 1878 Westbury on Severn, Gloucestershire; son of Henry Sanders GRANT, doctor, & Sarah Jane JONES; 1896 to Australia to learn sheep-ranching; 1904 to Argentina, worked for the Compañía Ganadera Los Cisnes, on an estancia in the Precordillera; 1906 drove first sheep to Estancia La Madrugada, near Cabo Blanco, Puerto Deseado; 1912 brought wife to Bahía Mazarredo; founder member of the Sociedad Rural; 1921 family spent one year in Britain; 1944 retired from position of manager at La Madrugada; 1947 d. on his children's ranch, Estancia Río Blanco, Bajo Caracoles.

Marjorie Anne Jones

b. 1889; dtr. of William Christopher JONES, brewer, & Hagar Sarah SIMMONS; 1912 to Argentina with husband; 1948 returned to Puerto Deseado after husband's death
