Edwin Frank [Eduardo Francisco] BEECHER, b. 1868, son of William Henry BEECHER and Sarah CASH; 1897 emigrated from London to Rio Gallegos, Prov. Santa Cruz; builder; 1900-1911 operated "The White Elephant" hotel on Calle Zapiola; 1905 imported first automobile in Territory (maker "Star" of Wolverhampton; shipped from Liverpool to Punta Arenas via P.S.N.C., then driven overland to Rio Gallegos); 1911-1939 operated "Beecher's Bazaar"; founder member of British Club, and Club President in 1918 and 1921; fouder member of Cosmopolitan Club (Club Cosmopolita); shareholder in freezer works (The New Meat Patagonia Cold Storage Company); d. 1939 at sea, while en route from Buenos Aires to Rio Gallegos;
