He was one of those who leave behind the memory of
A human soul, loved by all who knew him for the noble
Nature and sincerity which had shone through all the
Long years of toil of a simple and unaffected life.

South Face

In loving memory of
My dear husband
THOMAS SAUNDERS (Pioneer)
Born November 11th 1858,
Passed on June 30th 1928,
Aged 70 years.

South Flank

One who never turned his back but marched breast forward
Never doubted clouds would break,
Never dreamed, though right were worsted, wrong would triumph.
Held we fall to rise, are baffled to fight better,
Sleep to wake
