b. 1845 Hobgreen (Rippon registration district), Yorkshire; son of Charles REYNARD & Helen Elizabeth HIGGENS; 1866 to Argentina - Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Córdoba; 1874 to Punta Arenas, at invitation of LEESMITH and DUNSMURE; (with DUNSMURE) established sawmill at Leña Dura; acquired schooner "María Colombo", captain VALVERDE - later sold to ROTHENBURG; 1877 brought first shipment of (300) sheep from Falklands [Malvinas] to Magallanes in the "Chacabuco", installing them on Isla Isabel (Magellan Strait); partner of Elías H. BRAUN - business destroyed in 1877 uprising; 1879 British vice-consul (succesor to DUNSMURE); Estancia Oazy Harbour (map); 1883 sent first Magallanes wool exports to London market; introduced first shearing machines in region; established first fat-rendering works in Magallanes; 1889 early member of First Fire Brigade Company of Punta Arenas; 1905 (after losing Oazy Harbour in government land auction) moved to Estancia Cañadón de las Vacas, Prov.
